There’s no simple answer to this, as every customer’s needs are unique. We advise speaking with one of our experienced solar experts to learn how many you might need. 2. Can Tesla Powerwall go outside?
Yes! It is possible to install Tesla Powerwall in both indoor and outdoor locations. However, we always advise customers that installing Powerwall in an outdoor location may inhibit performance. All lithium-based batteries suffer in performance as temperatures drop, so they are particularly vulnerable during winter. We recommend indoor installations to avoid this problem.
3. Can I install a Powerwall without solar?
Tesla Powerwall can be added to any pre-existing solar energy system. However, PurePoint Energy only offers Tesla Powerwall installation as a part of a new solar energy package. We do not retrofit Tesla Powerwall into already-constructed systems.
4. Can Tesla Powerwall be mounted to the wall?
Yes. Tesla Powerwall easily and seamlessly mounts to either the wall or the floor, and its innovative design allows it to be easily stacked in laying-down or standing-up configurations.
5. Is there a wait time to get Tesla Powerwall?
There might be, depending on demand and availability. Tesla is working on increasing production to keep up with demand. The current wait time is around 3 to 4 months during peak installation season. Powerwall and your chosen solar panel system will be installed at the same time.
6. Does Tesla Powerwall require regular maintenance?
Beyond simple cleaning, no. All you need to do is keep the top of the battery and your inverter free of debris. Any software updates are released and distributed over-the-air, which means they will be installed automatically through your system’s internet connection.
7. Can I sell my excess power back to the grid?
Absolutely! As long as you have a two-way meter installed (which should be done when installing your solar panels), you can still sell back your excess power while using the Tesla Powerwall. You can also control how much power is going back to the grid and how much is going to Powerwall using the smartphone app.
8. Does the Tesla Powerwall come with a warranty?
Tesla Powerwall comes with a standard 10-year warranty at 70% capacity, meaning that if it loses over 30% of its storage capacity in under 10 years, the warranty will cover it.
9. How long will one charge of the Tesla Powerwall battery last?
This depends heavily on your energy usage. For example, if the power goes off and you keep your HVAC system running at full blast, you’ll run out of power far faster than you would by only running a few critical devices. However, for context, a full charge can power ten, 100-watt bulbs for 12 hours.
