Funding for Farmers A Project to educate and connect farms with Grants, Rebates and Financing.
Fact: According to the National Agriculture Statistics Service the number of farms has decreased by 75% in Connecticut since 1950.
What’s going on? CT Farms face a lot of challenges: International competition, extreme weather, policy issues, disease, diminishing farm land / land use pressure, etc…
The Future without our Local Farms: Without the success of our local farms the quality and variety of our food will plummet. CT farms are a staple for the rural economy. If farms fail the negative impacts will be felt throughout the state.
Despite the financial assistance available, many farms are either unaware that these incentives exist, don’t know how to access them or don’t have time or resources to fill out the application.
The Good News – Abundance is Possible. Through equipment, process improvements, and local support our farms will be financially and environmentally sustainable for generations to come.
