Description of Site:

The owners and workers at this marina had experienced the sun’s powerful heat for many years and were looking to create a shading structure that could lower the marina’s carbon footprint and pay for itself through energy savings. The beautiful sunny weather of Dania, Florida and the open area of the marina’s location made this an excellent place to install and set up a photovoltaic system.

Customizing the System:

With over 192 photovoltaic panels, the marina was covered with a total of 51,840 watts of energy. The panels were installed in a prime location to soak up as much sun as possible.

Result of Installation:

• This system was designed to withstand hurricane force winds of up to 155 mph.
• The annual electric output will exceed 70,000 kWh's / year.
• The annual savings will exceed $10,000 in the first year.
• This system will provide shade for cars and boat owners from the hot Florida sun.
